How much does it cost to buy a house in Galicia?

Purchase costs in Galicia are approximately 8-12% of the property price, including ITP (8-15% progressive), notary, registry and gestoria.

What is ITP in Galicia?

ITP is the tax paid by the buyer on resale properties. In Galicia it is progressive: 8% up to €150,000, rising to 15% for amounts over €700,000.

Is buying new build cheaper in taxes?

Yes. New builds pay 10% VAT + 1.5% AJD, vs progressive ITP (8-15%) for resales. For properties up to €150,000, resale is cheaper; above that, new build is usually more favorable.
